Her journey started after attending a neurodiagnostic program in 1984 in the midwest at University of Wisconsin Madison which led her on a four decade journey of immersion into the neurodiagnostic and epilepsy space.
Mary has held several leadership roles over these decades, all at large academic clinical and research health systems (Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes, UCSD and currently UCSF), possessing the responsibility and accountability for operational oversight in neurodiagnostic and epilepsy. This includes a vast span of both inpatient and outpatient services for pediatric and adult populations, leading several build outs of epilepsy monitoring units and program development, operational and clinical performance, in addition to responsibility for program development and service responsiveness in each of these areas. In this role she is charged with developing and directing effective, high-quality clinical services across multi disciplines.
Mary has been at the forefront of implementation of dynamic neurodiagnostic and epilepsy programs including expansions revenue generation, capital, IT infrastructure, networking, data and server management, productivity, bed capacity and throughput optimization, supporting a financial landscape, all within academic medicine.
With Mary’s experience, expertise and passion it translates into a driven focus in neurodiagnostics, especially the EMU arena, to help program growth initiatives, strategic planning, optimization and streamline efficiencies to ensure success and sustainability through data analysis, compliance, accreditations and regulations.
Mary is at a point in her career where teaching, training and mentorship are vital to her northstar to give back to the neurodiagnostic field. She is involved on a national level with the ASET community by volunteering/serving on several task forces and committees, including former board of trustees, to drive change, support and education to the membership community at large.
She has been recognized by UCSF Women in Leadership and engaged in several leadership programs over the years to help mold her professional development and craft.
Outside of work Mary enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, cycling and beach walks with her dog. Her favorite pastime is professional sports, watching or attending football, baseball and basketball games.
This new position will support Mary’s goal of helping bridge the gap for centers, large and small, nationally and internationally, in the realm of program development and sustainability in the neurodiagnostic and epilepsy space through a partnership, support and guidance for success.
